| Click HERE for NEW ARRANGEMENTS I will post summaries here of what we work out on the worksheets. Most of the code is obvious, but some is not, so take a look: CAPITAL LETTERS = instrument: F - fiddle G - guitar M - mandolin O - octave mandolin A - accordion S - soprano T - tenor HG - you guessed it P - percussion lower case letters = info about what the instrument is doing: m - melody (Fm means fiddle on melody) r - rhythm (Or means octave mando on rhythm) d - diamonds (Gd means guitar playing diamonds) dr - drone (Adr means accordion playing drones) h - harmony b - bass pl - plucked fp - flat pick (Whoever is doing rhythm can make more extensive notes on what that entails.) When someone ENTERS, I will write "+" in front of their letter, and list their instrument at the end of the line, so it's easy to spot. When someone drops out in the middle of an act, I will write "(-)" in front of their letter, at the end of the line. Let me know of any typos, errors in here. And if someone has suggestions of ways to improve this coding, let me know before I get rolling on this. PLEASE READ THIS: To make it worth my time and effort (as well as everyone else's), I ask that you all print these out and put them on your music pages. I imagine everyone will be tempted to use these arrangements to make a note only of their own role (like, for me on Newcastle, all I really need to know is that I drop out in Act Three). BUT... my hope is that everyone goes into a post and prints out the whole arrangement [or, copies and pastes several arrangements onto a word document and prints out several at once] and then attaches the complete arrangement onto their music page; so it's there as a picture of the whole piece, for reference, even if you make your own, simpler notes on the side. If we all do this, then at any time, anyone of us can say: The accordion is doing drones in this part, or fiddle drops out, or whatever. THAT is the ultimate point/goal/hope I have for going to all the trouble of writing all these up: Not so they just live here or on a piece of paper somewhere, but I'm hoping these little maps/overviews will live on each players page. In terms of sharing the responsibility...THAT is what I would appreciate if each of you do with the work I do here. |
